WHY FORTY-TWO
The method
How a place earns its place on the book.
Four rules, kept honestly.
01
We walk it first.
A place goes nowhere near the book until someone here has spent a season in it — long enough to learn which week is worth flying for, and which four months are a waste of everyone’s money.
02
The guide who wrote it, runs it.
You are not handed to whoever the local agency has free that week. The person who built the route walks it with you, and has walked it often enough to know what to do on the morning it goes wrong.
03
Three days that do nothing.
Every week carries spare days with nothing booked in them. They are the most expensive thing we sell, and they are the reason that when the weather finally breaks at five in the morning, we can be standing in it.
04
We say no, out loud.
Wrong season, wrong month, wrong week for what you came for — we tell you, and we lose the booking. Forty-two is a short list because saying no is most of the work.
